Diese Rezension bezieht sich auf die Box, mit den in "Leder" eingebundenen Büchern.Eines vorweg, bevor man sich entscheidet diese Box zu kaufen, sollte man sich im Klaren sein, dass die Bücher ein eher ungewöhnliches Format haben. Das Format ist vergleichbar mit einem Gesangbuch. Auch die Seiten sind eher auf der dünnen Seite, aber etwas anderes bei dem Preis zu erwarten ist einfach nur realitätsfremd.Ich war mir, dank anderen Rezensionen, darüber im Klaren.Mir persönlich gefällt die Box sehr gut.postiv:- das "Leder" (es wird sich um irgendein Kunstleder handeln) fühlt sich schön griffig an und ist nicht zu starr- das kleine Format der Bücher liegt gut in den Händen und macht das Lesen, der doch sehr umfangreichen Bücher, angenehm- durch die dünnen Seiten wird das Gewicht der Bücher stark reduziertnegativ:- das Negative der dünnen Seiten ist, dass die Schrift auf der anderen Seite leicht durchschimmert. Mir persönlich macht das aber nicht wirklich etwas aus( - manche Leser werden sich eventuell. auch daran stören, dass der Zeilenabstand eher gering und auch die Schriftgröße eher auf der kleinen Seite ist. Ich persönlich finde das nicht schlimm und mag ein solches Format sogar eher, weil es mich mehr in der Seite fesselt.)-> siehe das Bild im AnhangInhaltlich:Mit dem Erfolg der TV-Serie "Game of Thrones", haben auch die Bücher erneut an Popularität gewonnen und das mit Recht! Diese Reihe ist fesselnde, erwachsene Fantasy. Keine Elfen, Orks und Magier an jeder Ecke und doch ist die Story genau an den richtigen Stellen gespickt mit Fantasy-Elementen. Vervollständigt wird die Mischung durch politische und romantische Intrigen und Gefühlen von Unsicherheit (da man sich nie über das Schicksal eines Charakters sicher sein kann) und ein Gefühl einer großen unbekannten Gefahr.Ein Meisterwerk.Falls diese Rezension hilfreich war, würde ich mich über einen kurzen Klick auf das "Ja" unter der Rezension freuen!

Ein besseres Schnäppchen als die 5 Bücher im Taschenbuchformat für unter 25€ kann man kaum finden. Wie so oft bei englischen Büchern geht das mit einem gewissen Qualitätsdefizit einher, aber sind wir mal ehrlich — umso weniger stören die Gebrauchsspuren die Zugfahrten, Urlaube oder Ähnliches an den Büchern hinterlassen. Und sind TASCHENbücher nicht für eben solche Zwecke gemacht? Ja die Seiten sind sehr dünn und ja die Druckqualität manchmal nicht überragend und ja manchmal findet Druckfehler, aber dafür bekommt man eben auch sehr viele Seiten und eine durchaus lange Beschäftigung für wenig Geld. Mich persönlich hat die geringe Qualität beim Lesen selbst nie gestört und wer sich beim Lesen mehr auf die Dicke der Seite oder so konzentriert, als auf den Inhalt, der macht meines Erachtens nach irgendwas nicht ganz richtig.Hinzu kommt, dass das Paket mit den Farben und der kleinen Box auch ganz schick aussieht.Zur Geschichte selbst brauche ich denke ich nichts sagen. Wer noch nie etwas von GoT gehört hat, hat offensichtlich kein Internet und kann demnach diese Rezesion sowieso nicht lesen und für alle anderen gilt: Serie gesehen? Interesse geweckt? Dann lies die Bücher! Serie nicht gesehen, aber interessiert an der Geschichte? Umso besser! Lies unbedingt die Bücher!Ganz, ganz klare Kaufempfehlung!!!!!

Ich habe diese Buchbox vor ca. 2 Jahren kurz vor meiner Abiturphase bestellt. Sehr großer Fehler! Die ersten 3 Bücher habe ich jeweils in einer Woche verschlungen. Das mag bei der Dicke der Bücher nicht lang erscheinen, aber diese sind dennoch sehr umfangreich. Dies wird durch die extrem dünnen Seiten möglich. Manch einen mag das vielleicht stören, aber ich war mir beim Kauf dieser Reihe dessen bewusst und qualitativ sind die Seiten auch durchaus gut. Vor allem im Hinblick auf den Preis.Auf den Inhalt der Bücher möchte ich hier weniger eingehen, da dieser durch die Serie den meisten bekannt ist beziehungsweise andere Rezessionen darauf bereits eingehen. Zu erwähnen ist vielleicht, dass die Serie zumindest am Anfang (ca. erste beide Bände) sehr nah an den Büchern gehalten ist, sich jedoch im Verlauf der Bücher/Serie beide teilweise weiter voneinander entfernen. Ich habe mich daran nie gestört.Das wichtigste für die meisten wird das Englischniveau sein. Dieses würde ich einfach durch die gegebene Thematik, die vom Alltagswortschatz teilweise stärker abweicht, als fortgeschrittener bezeichnen. Wenn man alles verstehen möchte, muss man schon öfters mal Wörter nachschlagen und wirklich aufmerksam (Dies liegt aber auch an den vielen verschiedenen Handlungssträngen und der teilweise verworrenen Handlung) lesen. Nichtsdestotrotz empfand ich es als eine angenehme Lektüre und für Leute, die öfters mal zu Englischen Büchern greifen durchaus zu empfehlen.Wie bereits erwähnt, der Preis für diese Reihe ist unschlagbar und auch der Grund warum ich auf Sie aufmerksam geworden bin. im Vergleich zu den deutschen Büchern spart man hier schon einiges! Immerhin um die 100€.Die Box ist hübsch anzusehen und sehr platzsparend. Die Buchcover sind auch sehr schön und individuell designed.Einziges Manko und auch der Grund für den einen Stern Abzug sind die auffälligen, sich häufenden Rechtschreibfehler. Bei dem Preis aber durchaus zu verschmerzen.

The book is easy to read and offers many illustrative examples of cultural misunderstandings. Cultural differences are organized along 8 relative scales:1. communicating: low-context vs. high-context2. evaluating: direct vs. indirect negative feedback3. persuading: principles-first vs. application first4. leading: egalitarian vs. hierarchical5. deciding: consensual vs. top-down6. trusting: task-based vs. relationship-based7. disagreeing: confrontational vs. avoiding confrontation8. time/scheduling: linear vs flexibleThe scales are explained in detail with plenty of examples, mostly from the author's own experience in cross-cultural context or from the experience of participants of her trainings. She stresses the relativity of the scales and that there are individual differences within cultures as well, thus the description feels balanced.I agree with other readers, that the perspective of the author is thoroughly 'western', if not US-American. Although there is significant effort to shed light on other cultural backgrounds, specifically Asian, the formulations and structure are obviously influenced by the background of the author. However, that doesn't hurt - the book itself just helps to notice it. Coming from a western background myself (Germany), for me it is easy to read, entertaining and interesting. I wouldn't know, how e.g. readers with an Asian background would perceive this book, but I can recommend it.

Erin Meyer beschreibt auf sehr anschauliche Weise wie einzelne Kulturen "ticken". Nicht nur für das Arbeiten in internationalen Projekten hilfreich sondern auch für Vielreisende um insbesondere die unterschiedlichen Kommunikationsebenen besser zu verstehen. Anfänglich dachte ich, dass die einzelnen Kulturen ins schwarz und weiß eingeteilt werden, aber dem ist nicht so. Grundverhaltensweisen werden anschaulich dargestellt und gegenüber gestellt. Das Buch ist auch ein Aufruf an die gegenseitige Toleranz und für die Völkerverständigung ein wertvoller Beitrag.

Candidate for the best book I’ve read in 2017: Erin Meyer’s fascinating and enlightening book about the complexity of people from different cultures working together in today's business world. It shows new dimension to people's actions, perceptions, and motivations. Although the book’s primarily written for managers who lead multinational and multicultural teams, it’s also useful for everyone working or living in a multicultural environment. I'd recommend this book to anyone who interacts with people from different cultures regularly. As the author writes, culture does not explain everything but it does affect the way we view and experience the world.

in unserer sich verändernden Welt will man ja auch amerikanische Spitzenpolitiker und andere Kulturen verstehen. Daher der Kauf dieses Buches nach Empfehlung einer Fortbildung. Gut zu lesen, hin und wieder mit Vokabel nachschlagen, aber sehr interessant im Kontext und lehrreich. Könnte direkt in der Schule in Klasse 10 eingesetzt werden, um die neue nachwachsende Gesellschaft auf ihr künftiges mutikulturelles Leben vorzubereiten.

A wonderful book to open up your horizon and to get a brief introduction in how cultures are shaping our world (and also how they influence how we like to do business). Furthermore, it offers solutions for communication & business errors due to cultural missunderstanding. The only bad thing about this book is that I would have sometimes wished to get more examples and more details (also justifications) but that would be too much to expect from a book with that price point. It is still an amazing book. Absolute recommendation :)

I read this book just after I started working in a very international workplace. For a seemingly business book, it was very enjoyable, with real and relatable stories that elicited a laugh, left me surprised and intrigued. I feel like a lot of situations have been explained! I immediately recommended and leant it to colleagues and it’s now doing the rounds in the office!

This is book is very captivating!I read super fast and with enthusiasm; it's written in a very informal way but at the same very informative and insightful.It's funny and it can be surprising how you perspective can change towards human behaviour that derives from cultural differences.Everyone living in cosmopolitan cities and working with different cultures should definitely read this book! Cultural differences are good, they just need to be understood ;)
